Huh.. another silly mailer was just thrust through my post box. Probably hawking pizza or kebabs at some freakishly expensive cost ! Perhaps I should start at the beginning... today I woke up and decided to make some changes in my life which include trying to spend money more wisely, spend more time with my children doing meaningful things, tackle home projects that I've let fester, etc.. in essence I'm in for a major overhaul and decided that a written account of what I'm going to call, " The year of living frugally, more organized and with greater purpose " is the best place to start. Not sure in the end how it will all work out but hey lets give it a go.
The frugal part is already up and running as I went to the local carboot this weekend and visited the Welsh traders ( this is what I call them.. not sure of actual name ) and bought tons of frozen, catering quality food for my freezer. I got 2 kilos of frozen , cooked, diced chicken breast for two pounds... 2 kilos of cooked, chargrilled chicken breasts for two pounds, 2 kilos of cooked, chargrilled turkey filets for one pound, 30 individually frozen cheese and onion pasties for a pound, two bags of Indian style chicken stir fry ( including rice ) for one pound per bag, 4 kilos of teriyaki chicken ( cooked and diced ) for two pounds each, and I think thats it. My freezer runneth over !!! Now I've just got to come up with a thousand and one chicken and turkey recipes to slip this stuff into so that the family doesn't grow bored with their diet. I also sussed out that the farmers sell quite good quality organic produce at same said market and I bought a 10 kilo bag of really fantastic potatoes for two pounds. If I can shop like this all month, imagine the savings I'll have !
I have also enquired about an allotment and methinks I've got one ! Now just to learn to garden. :o) Not sure how I'll fit this in with two under two's but hey can't knock it till I try it. I'm an american by the way living in England so the whole thing is new to me but a woman's got to do what a woman's got to do.
Well, must log off now.. baby crying... and here's a perfect chance to start my quality time with her. Ciao for now ! queenoftheroost
